The Hunter Training Duck (specifically in blue) is a high-quality, realistic dummy designed by the German brand HUNTER. Its part of their “Wildlife” or “Training” series, tailored for dogs that enjoy fetching or are being introduced to gundog work.

Key Features

• Realistic Design: It mimics the shape and weight of a mallard, helping dogs get used to the “mouthfeel” of a bird.

• Vibrant Blue Color: While ducks aren’t blue in nature, this specific version is popular because dogs see the blue spectrum quite well, making it easier for them to spot in tall grass or at a distance.

• Built-in Squeaker: Unlike professional “dead fowl” trainers, this version often includes a squeaker to keep high-drive dogs engaged and motivated.

• Material & Durability: Usually made from a robust, water-repellent polyester or sturdy fabric. It is designed for fetching, but it is not a chew toyit won’t survive a determined “power chewer” left alone with it.

• Washable: Most models are machine washable at 30C, which is a lifesaver after a muddy day at the park.

Comparison: Training vs. Play

If you are looking for this specific toy, its helpful to know which “vibe” youre going for:

Tips for Longevity

1. Use it for “Work”: Only bring the duck out during active play sessions. If you leave it in the toy box, your dog might decide to “dissect” it.

2. Dry it Out: Even though its water-repellent, if it gets soaked, let it air dry completely to prevent that classic “wet dog toy” smell.
