This lamp uses a special UVB transmitting quartz glass for maximum UVB penetration, and screws right into standard threaded sockets (no separate ballast required). The UVB emissions help prevent and reverse the dreaded MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease), while UVA increases feeding, mating, and other natural behaviors.
